Facilitated drum circles & rhythm events are accessible to ALL AGES & ALL ABILITIES. No musical or rhythmic experience is needed to enjoy and participate.

Drum circles and interactive rhythm events can be used as a learning modality to achieve a variety outcomes from: reducing employee burnout, team building, cathartic release, coping with difficult circumstances (recovery, addiction, incarceration, grief), celebrations, rites of passage and to even deliver corporate messages.

A recreational drum circle is any group of people playing (usually) hand-drums and percussion in a circle. They are distinct from drumming ensembles, drum corps and culturally specific drum circles in that a facilitated drum circle is an end in itself rather than preparation for a performance. They can range in size from a handful of players to circles with thousands of participants.

The facilitator of the circle acts in service to the group to shape the experience and manage the environment to see that everyone is able to participate fully. The facilitator is constantly monitoring the music in the group, and encourages and accepts the ideas of the participants.

Facilitators with training and experience in other areas and professions, such as music education, music therapy, corporate training and improv acting may incorporate a range of tools and approaches to connect with diverse populations. These types of experiences are more accurately referred to as 'rhythm events' rather than drum circles, in the traditional sense.

My love of music comes from a childhood immersed in the local thrift shops vinyl collection.  From Disney soundtracks, to bebop jazz, hip-hop, classical, funk, blues, reggae, rock and blue grass, music has always been a way for me to understand the world & gave voice to my own internal development. 

I've played trumpet, been in award winning drum corps & percussion ensembles, sang & beat-boxed for touring acapella group, performed & recorded with multiple bands, produced music for stage & film & co-write intelligent children's music.
